Keeping you safe and informed – Community-led Resilience Teams (CRTs)

ICOPE’s CRT network in Iluka is an essential network of volunteers trained and connected with the Red Cross. The team consists of a CRT Coordinator, Zone Coordinators, and Street/Area Coordinators who work together to ensure effective communication and response during emergency situations to the Iluka community.

Importance and Purpose of the CRT

The Iluka CRT network plays a crucial role in enhancing community resilience and response capabilities in times of emergencies. The CRT’s importance lies in its ability to provide accurate and timely information to residents, assist in directing evacuations to the Iluka Community Managed Evacuation Centre (CMEC), and facilitate effective coordination among community members.

The purpose of the Iluka CRT network is threefold:

The purpose of the Iluka CRT network is threefold:

Communication of Emergency Information: One of the primary aims of the CRT is to ensure the effective, timely, and accurate dissemination of information regarding emergency situations in Iluka. The CRT Coordinator, Zone Coordinators, and Street/Area Coordinators act as channels of communication, relaying important updates, instructions, and warnings to the community. This ensures that residents are well-informed and can take necessary actions to protect themselves and their families.

Assistance in Directing Evacuations: During an emergency evacuation, the CRT network plays a vital role in assisting local authorities and emergency services in directing residents to the Iluka CMEC. The CRT Coordinator, Zone Coordinators, and Street/Area Coordinators will aim to provide guidance on evacuation and help ensure a smooth and orderly evacuation process. Their presence and knowledge are instrumental in ensuring the safety and well-being of everyone in the community.

Enhancing Community Resilience: By being part of the CRT network, community members have the opportunity to actively contribute to building and strengthening resilience within Iluka. The CRT’s encourage community engagement, foster a sense of collective responsibility, and empower individuals to take proactive measures in preparedness and response. By working together, community members can support each other during emergencies and aid in the overall recovery process.
